How do I split a PDF into separate files?
Upload your PDF, select the pages you want to extract using thumbnails or quick selection tools, and click 'Split PDF'. Each selected page will become its own PDF file that you can download individually or all together as a ZIP.
Can I choose which pages to extract?
Yes! Click individual page thumbnails to select them, or use quick selection buttons for odd pages, even pages, ranges like '1-5, 8-10', or first/last N pages. You have complete control over which pages get extracted.
What's the difference between File View and Pages View?
File View shows your uploaded PDF as a document card, useful when you have multiple source files. Pages View displays all pages as individual thumbnails in a grid, perfect for detailed page selection and organization.
Can I rotate pages before splitting?
Absolutely. Select any pages that need rotation and use the rotate buttons to turn them 90°, 180°, or 270°. The extracted PDFs will have the corrected orientation.
What happens to the page order when I split?
Each extracted page keeps the number from its position in your selection. If you reorder pages by dragging them, the files will be numbered according to the new sequence.
Can I download all split files at once?
Yes! Click the 'Download All as ZIP' button to get all extracted PDFs packaged in a single ZIP archive. This is much faster than downloading files one by one, especially if you extracted many pages.
Can I preview the split PDFs before downloading?
Yes. After splitting, click 'Preview First File' to open the first extracted PDF in a new browser tab. This lets you verify that the extraction worked correctly before downloading everything.
Does splitting reduce PDF quality?
No. Each extracted page is a perfect copy of the original with no quality loss. Images, text, fonts, and formatting remain exactly as they were.
Are my files uploaded to your servers?
No. PDF splitting happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy.
Can I split password-protected PDFs?
Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first. Use our PDF Decrypt tool to remove the password, then split the unlocked file.
What if I change my mind after selecting pages?
Use the Undo button (or press Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z) to reverse any selection or edit. You can undo up to 50 actions, so feel free to experiment.
Can I split multiple PDFs at the same time?
Yes! Upload multiple PDFs, select pages from each, and split them all in one operation. All extracted pages from all source files will be available for download.
